'The place we stayed in Rabanal was superb. Breakfast of scrambled eggs and super crispy bacon was just what was needed. Our plan was to taxi to El Acebo and avoid the big climb to Foncebadon and then the very steep rocky downhill to El Acebo. However, a fellow pilgrim warned that even the section from El Acebo would be very difficult for someone with dodgy knees etc. Glenise didn't need any more convincing so we taxied to Molinaesca and walked to Ponferrada. I did feel a bit if a fraud, but after talking to a couple of pilgrims later on I think we made the right decision. Florin, from Dusseldorf joined us for the taxi ride. We arranged to stop at the cross at the top. I gave another pilgrim, Eric, who was going to walk the climb, 1a card of the Maori Madonna to put by the cross for me. Even though we stopped by the cross I felt the card needed to be placed by someone who had done the walk. We took photos then headed on down to Molinaesca. Our taxi driver, Luis, was very informative pointing out places of interest. The walk from Molinaesca was alongside a road, but we decided to take an alternative route which added to the journey. At times it seemed as if Ponferrada was getting further away, but we arrived eventually. Our accommodation is in what seems to be a student residential block. We each have a tiny attic type room, so even I keep bumping my head. There is no lift and with no bannisters for support Glenise struggles to get up and down the many flights of stairs. However, this is the camino and the hostel manager has very kindly offered to bring Glenises dinner up to her, and will take her bag down for her in the morning. In the photos, Florin is the guy taking photos, and Luis is the man by the taxi. Who do the couple in the last photo remind you of?
