A Delayed Start.

We planned to start from Alverca midday. After waiting for two trains that never came we hoped aboard one for Tomar and eventually arrived in Alverca around 1.30pm. There is a rolling strike on and trains got "deleted" without explanation. Once we arrived Jay found our starting point quickly and we were on our way. A couple of stops for ice cream

, pack adjustments and coffee meant we arrived at our hostel 5.45pm . A short but very hot walk. Tomorrow we walk to Azambuja, 19km. Thursday is a 32km day. The first part of our route today was through an industrial area, but then we walked through a fishing village alongside a river before arriving at Vila Franca de Xira. Jay had quite a chat with Alvaro Guerra.
