Sorry about not doing a blog yesterday. I was a tad weary. When we left Hospital de Obrigio we decided to take the alternative senic route which was slightly longer but worthwhile. Much of the route is alongside busy highways so the opportunity to see more of the countryside was worthwhile. The walk was uphill and down dale through pastureland and at least one farm. Saw a couple of calves being kept in small holding pens, others in a slightly larger run. Lots of pumpkin being grown, plus what looked like melons. There were not many villages along the way but then right in the middle of nowhere there was a popup refreshment stand with a great variety of fruits, drinks, etc all just for a donation. It also came a resident dog who begged for food very effectively. Then it was on to Astorga and the SanJavier albergue, set in a beautiful old building. Went for a walk around town and took photos of the cathedral, the Gaudi Episcopal Palace (which the bishop never lived in) and finished the night with delicious pork ribs in bbq sauce.
