1For the second day in a row I had delicious bacon and eggs for breakfast, no bread. Most meals on the pilgrim route come with large hunks of bread of varying degrees of quality. Some crusts are so hard they can scratch the roof of your mouth. From Bercianos we went to El Burgo Ranero for breakfast before heading the 12kms to Reliegos. Leaving El Burgo Ranero I spotted the local church that seems to have become a hostal for pigeons. The church looks quite modern with modern stained glass windows, hard to tell if it's
still used. Most of the village churches are closed. The route between the villages today was quite barren with nowhere for water or food. The authorities have tried to help pilgrims by creating lovely picnic rest areas. Places for a very welcome respite. We saw a couple of people walking the camino with their dogs, and nearly got bowled by cyclusts using the walking track next to the road. The albergue we are in tonight is up for sale. The owner is a single mum who is moving back to Madrid with her parents so she can have more time w1ith her 6 year old daughter. It's a lovely albergue, anyone interested? Tomorrow we go to Villarente then onto Leon.
