Another great day on the Camino. As someone said today, it's not for the faint hearted. We left Santarem at 7.45am, walked down the steep path from the castle to the valley below. On the way through Santarem we were stopped by a group of harriers who insisted on taking selfies with Peregrinos. Then it was through acres of vineyards, farmland to Vale de Figuera. Through more horticultural land to Azhinaga and on to Golega. The last 7kms is on a very narrow road, so we opted to play safe and take a taxi. The beer I had tonight was well deserved. We have just had dinner in a taverna run by a retired matador! A man who is very proud of his former profession. Tomorrow we are going to Fatima, and will be joined by Linh from Melbourne. Today we met Ari from the Netherlands and two young women from USA.
